Reggaetonero Hector "El Father" Delgado Dedicates His Life, Bling To Papa Dios

While other reggaeton artists are content to get their politic on, some choose to garner publicity find fulfillment through religion. Such is the case for Hector “El Father” Delgado, who announced he will dedicate his life, and his music, to God. Just as soon as he finishes up this tour and all the booty shorts are washed and folded away:

My way now is to serve Christ in spirit and truth,” Delgado told reporters, adding he intended to donate his cache of bling, including diamonds and other sparklers for wrists, fingers and neck, to charitable groups.

Oh the joy and well-being blood diamonds can buy. The news of “El Father’s” lifestyle change comes after a little biting incident. For Jesus:

It also comes about six months after a Puerto Rican woman seeking an autograph from Delgado was grabbed and apparently bitten by someone in his entourage and several shots were fired. Delgado was acquitted of several criminal charges filed against him in the incident.

Not that we’re casting stones at (publicity) whores or anything. This news is particularly (or only) interesting to us after reading Shakira’s publicist’s vehement denial that the artist would be singing about Islam. While “El Father’s” announcement will likely be met with equal parts admiration and amused ridicule, were his publicist to deny the story, we’re pretty sure it wouldn’t be with the same amount of seemingly defensive appall. Or, for that matter, with the same sense of worry over how it will affect record sales in the U.S. and Latin America.
