The New York Times Discovers Chile, Sexy Teen Girls, Poncea Parties

Someone finally clued The New York Times in on a trend occurring among Chilean teens with asymmetrical haircuts and snakebite piercings: Poncea parties! Because ain’t nothing getting our rocks off more than rubbing all up on some boy whose voice has yet to change while worrying whether our bra straps are showing enough. As you know, this trend has been on the rise for a while now, with young Chileans organizing parties to make out with and dry hump as many people as possible in a simultaneous demonstration of a young generation’s form of sexual rebellion, as well as a means of experimenting and deriving sexual pleasure without the risk of STD or pregnancy (Never mind that open sores on lips or gums can also lead to the transmission of diseases). It’s that notion of “liberation without contamination” that becomes the main focus of the NYT article:

“We are not the children of the dictatorship; we are the children of democracy,” said Michele Bravo, 17, at a recent afternoon party. “There is much more of a rebellious spirit among young people today. There is much more freedom to explore everything.”

But when has it even been a democratic ideal to disguise possible sexual exploitation as healthy experimenting?

Chilean society was shaken last year when a video of a 14-year-old girl eagerly performing oral sex on a teenage boy on a Santiago park bench was discovered on a video-hosting Web site. The episode became a national scandal, stirring finger-pointing at the girl’s school, at the Internet provider — at everyone, it seemed, but the boys who captured the event on a cellphone and distributed the video.

Of course the bulk of the blame would fall on the girl - who is either a penis-hungry (Note the use of “eagerly.”) slut or such a dumb, naive creature that her choices must be at the complete mercy of her school’s administration or the internet or Xenu without any expectation of critical thinking or personal deliberation on her part. Why is that, in reporting on this story, the female participants are consistently and simultaneously passive receptacles of male teen lust and the half of a coupling responsible for setting boundaries? Take a look at how “excessive gropage” (actual term!) is handled at make-out parties:

Alcohol is not allowed, and cigarettes are not sold, though smoking was widespread among the teenagers at the Cadillac Club. Security guards monitor bathrooms and regularly throw out boys whose groping crosses the line — if the girls complain.

So, even when they’re not actually getting fucked? Girls are still fucked.

Comments

Very confusing! So are the girls, idiots, sluts, or innocent fawns lured into these dens of wanton male lust?

@ Key: All and none of these things, I think. It just seems a little unfair that in talking about, say, a blowjob, the girl’s role is analyzed while it’s kind of expected that the guy is there because, hey free bj! With no need for explanation or discourse beyond that. WIth a girl its like well WHY did she like it? Did he force her to? Is it because she’s a slutty mcwhore? Why why why?
