106 Year-Old Sister Cecilia Will Vote For Obama, Feels You Should Get Over It
15 October 2008, 9:05 AM. By Guanabee Staff
When Sister Cecilia Gaudette, a 106 year-old American nun living in Rome, announced on CBS and the BBC that she’s voting for Barack Obama for president, she never expected the deluge of media attention it brought her. That’s because Sister Cecilia doesn’t watch television very much. She keeps up with the news through the newspaper since she’s hard of hearing. She also hasn’t voted since Eisenhower ran, but she told the BBC that she is encouraged by Barack Obama because he seems like a good man. For that reason, she is returning to the United States on November 4 to cast her ballot for him.
Sitting in her modest office in the convent where she has lived for the past 50 years, the diminutive nun appears uninterested in the row inside the American Catholic church over Senator Obama’s support for pro-choice policies on abortion.
Sister Cecilia says she has hopes for peace in the United States with Obama. The Iraq war, she says, is anyone’s guess. “It is very complicated. Those Eastern people are not like we are.” Oh, and now she wants everyone to leave her alone.

She voted by absentee ballot from Rome and is not returning to the US to vote. She is an inspiration!
