Person who cannot vote, Shakira, is expressing her endorsement of Presidential candidate Barack Obama. She’s even going to write a song for him! To which Obama says, “Thanks! You core demographic-nabber, you:”

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of such a talented and generous individual who has achieved worldwide acclaim, and whose commitment to social justice has made such a difference,” Senator Obama said. “Shakira is a role model for young Latinas in the U.S., and throughout our entire hemisphere, and I am humbled that she recognizes the type of change we need in our country and around the world.”

Role model. As in “person to be emulated.” So, basically? Obama is telling you not to vote. Take off you chancletas, FLIP-FLOPPER. Says Shakira:

“I support Barack Obama because I think that he is the person that can bring the world the true American message,” Shakira said. “I feel in my heart that he would be able to reconstruct peace and confidence in the United States.”

“I’d like to invite the Latino community to come out and make themselves present during this election because they can really make a difference. I care deeply about this country and I think everyone does because America’s economy is so crucial for the rest of the world. The rest of the world’s economy depends on the economy of this country, and world peace depends on the policies of this country.”

This endoresment makes a lot of sense, actually. Both Shakira and Obama are not Muslim despite what your grandmother tells you and both look sensational in chaps. Shakira added she hopes every Latino gets out and votes, “Except Daddy Yankee. So, not every Latino. Oh, it also helps if you can vote? And if you’ve bought any of my albums. Or participated in the video below.”

I for one don’t consider Shakira to be my role model, nor are 99% of entertainers even worthy of the title of “role model”. Back on subject, didn’t she support the right-wing Alvaro Uribe?
