Digna And Victoria Carpio Give Birth To First Latino Sextuplets In The U.S.

Digna and Victor Carpio of Queens, NY have had the world’s second ever set of sextuplets. Well. Digna had them. Victor looked on in horror as something like six naked mole rats covered in Vaseline and chocolate syrup slithered and shrieked into the world. So precious:
The four boys and two girls arrived Oct. 6, and the parents kept the amazing news secret while doctors worked feverishly to make sure the infants all lived.
“I’ve watched each of my babies fight so hard to survive,” said Digna Carpio, 31, her eyes welling up with tears. “Life is beautiful, and we’re so thankful.”
The babies were born premature, at only 25 weeks into the pregnancy, and each weighed 1.5 to 2 pounds. The babies don’t yet have names and are only known as babies A through F until they are a month old. You can guess why this is, we’re sure:
Doctors initially gave girl F only a 25% chance of survival because of problems with her heart. It now looks as if she will beat the odds and survive.
“They had to perform surgery last week to repair a heart valve,” Digna Carpio said. “But she’s doing much better now, and they tell me her chances are better than 75%.”
The couple already have one child, 7-year-old Jhancarlos. (God, we can’t wait until they’re named…) The couple are understandably nervous at the prospect of raising six new little gremlins:
Some help has come from Tony Avella, the couple’s local City Council member, who has launched a collection drive for baby bottles, diapers, strollers and other supplies they will need.
Avella has urged donors to bring such goods to his office at 38-50 Bell Blvd., suite C in Bayside, or call (718) 747-2137 for pickup. Avella is not accepting any monetary donations.
The city’s only other sextuplets, the Boniellos, were born in 1997. The Carpio six are believed to be the first sextuplets born to a Hispanic couple in the U.S.
Yay for the Carpaccios and the Boniatillos!

jahncarlos? LOVE IT
Univision or Telemundo should give them a show. Imagine our own John & Kate + 8.
Hey, the babies have names now. “The names are: Justin, Danelia, Jezreel, Genesis, Joel and Jadon.”
Obviously, nothing tops Jhancarlos, though.
“six naked mole rats covered in Vaseline and chocolate syrup slithered and shrieked into the world”???
Oh, you said “something like”… so it’s just a simile, right?
It’s not like you’re calling them “six naked mole rats covered in Vaseline and chocolate syrup slithered and shrieked into the world”
(YIKES, man!)
