One of the perks of working as a blogger is being able to interact with commenters. You write something, publish it and have the immediate gratification of having people laugh along with you, offer an interesting take on the topic or call you a mindless whore. All such fun! And in that very spirit of sharing and fun, we’d like to commemorate three comments we’ve received this week. It’s not rare for us to attract some of the greatest minds on the web — people with a deep and nuanced appreciation for humor, commentary or stories about puppies in casts — and this week is no different. So, without further ado, here are some of the three smartiest comments of the week:

Re: Lamest Comic Book Ever Teaches Latinos That Diabetes Isn’t So Sweet
(aka “A Story From January”)
I will take your comments as being sarcastic… and you probably never got your hands on a real copy of the fotonovela for you to be so critical about it. By the way, this fotonovela was given to adults to evaluate the content (the fotonovela is in english and spanish) and they were given a pre and post questionnaire… their knowledge on diabetes improved significantly after having read the fotonovela…. if that isn’t a novel way of reaching a population that is often ignored by public health efforts, then I don’t know what is. They also were excited about sharing it with a family member who has diabetes. Before you are so critical and quick to bash the efforts of people who are working to get relevant health information to underserved populations, do your research. Just because it comes from a University, doesn’t mean it’s not good enough for our communities.
“I will take your comments as being sarcastic.” Aw, and to think you started off so well.

Re: Florida Man Punches Shark To Save His Terrier
Apparently the writer of this article is some bitter poor dude.
So sad you don’t know the extremes a human can go for something that means a lot to them.
There’s nothing wrong trying to save your pet or whatever is it for that matter, from danger.
‘Durn fool’.
Yes, true. Camilla is a poor, bitter dude who can’t sleep until she punches a puppy in the face and calls it fat. In fact, it was she who implemented our new “No Puppy Fridays.”

Re: Video: David Archuleta Has A “Crush”
It is a beautiful video. It is perfect for David and the song. Whoever wrote this stupid little thing is just jealous. David is so talented and so loved by so many. People just like to start rumors because their own lives are pathetic. David is perfect in this video, and he does not look awkward sitting next to the girls. He is shy. Leave him alone. As for Fredo, get a life. Why would you make a comment like that. You dont know him and you dont know if he is a virgin or not, and besides its none of anyone’s business. This is the problem in the world today, when there is a genuinely pure, wholesome person with morals and values, making something of their lives and trying to make others happy with their God given talent, others want to rain down on them. Shame on you. I, myself, think David is the most adorable person, with a heart of gold, and have a huge respect for him. He respects himself and that I could look up to.
You cut right to the heart of the matter, Lisa. All our snark and accusations that David Archuleta spends his weekend stuffing small woodland creatures in places where they’re probably really uncomfortable are not because he’s amusingly saccharine and derivative or has a reliably ridiculous fan base who speak of an average-looking boy who sings pop songs as if he’s a musical genius or, more creepily, a close acquaintance. It’s out of jealousy. It’s like you looked into our soul! Deep down, we wish that we, like David, had the love and admiration of people who think literally and have poor reading comprehension skills.
And that’s enough bitter jealousy out of this for today, kittens. Enjoy your weekends! We plan on spending tonight in front of our computers, mouthing the lyrics to “Crush.”

That Archuleta comment cracks me up everytime.
