Jennifer Lopez And NY MEts Player Carlos Beltran Renew Their Wedding Vows, Sadly Not To One Another

Jennifer Lopez and her pet marmoset, Marc Anthony, decided to renew their wedding vows in Vegas. After four years of marriage, countless ill-advised duets, one salsa movie and one pair of twins, the couple decided to have a recommitment ceremony at Caesars Palace’s Forum Tower Penthouse at 3:15 a.m. Said a source close to the couple (Jennifer):

“It was totally a spur of the moment thing. They decided around 12:30 in the morning that they wanted to do it and started calling for ministers.”

Most boring couple. Ever. A drunken, late-night, spur of the moment “commitment renewal?” And it wasn’t even exclusively their idea: New York Mets player Carlos Beltran recommitted right before Jennifer and Marc and were the first couple to use the newly-opened penthouse. Both couples exchanged engraved rings and toasted with champagne.

We’re not sure what to make of wedding vow renewal ceremonies. We tend to think one wedding is plenty and that each day you don’t strangle your spouse is a recommitment of sorts. What do you guys think? Cute idea, or excuse to spend money?
