Marquéalo: Today Is National Coming Out Day
11 October 2008, 11:00 AM. By Daniel Mauser
Today, October 11th, is National Coming Out Day - an ideal time to either come out, support someone who is coming out or to really think about the process and what it means to be open about your sexuality. We got so excited we sent you all an ice cream cake for this day. Which, unfortunately, got lost in the mail. After we ate it. Alone.
We support the idea of an official day dedicated to coming out in that it draws attention to the fact that it isn’t easy. It’s something to be celebrated. But we also know coming out in many, many places in the United States and across the world — including Latin America — is a decision that cannot be planned in advance and marked on a calendar. We know that, in many places, it’s not something that is decidedly not celebrated. So we offer our own support and good wishes to those who intend on coming out today - and those who do not have that option. Or those who aren’t ready. Or those who aren’t sure. Because it’s your day, too. And, now, a video from the HRC:

Hey, Fredo…I’ll come out if you will.
Olé!
I am gay!
me too! (but don’t tell my mom.)
Yes, we should support gay men and lesbians, and acknowledge the contributions of the LGBT community. I think it’s particularly important to support Hispanic LGBT members (like Daniel Mauser, Ricky Martin, David Archuleta, and any Hispanic person who has participated in a Bravo reality show).
Happy National Coming Out Day, y’all.
But sin is still sin.
Remember, Christ died for all of our sins…and that includes homosexuality.
@bill: Christ didn’t die, my friend; that’s the point of the Resurrection. And I think he also said a little somethin’ about “let he who is without sin…” Christ is pretty happy when I’m expressing love — even if it is with a sweaty ol’ mans.

National Coming Out Day Bill Style
O my God,
I am heartily sorry for
having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins,
because I dread the loss of heaven,
and the pains of hell;
but most of all because
they offend Thee, my God,
Who are all good and
deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve,
with the help of Thy grace,
to confess my sins, to do penance,
and to amend my big gay life.
Amen.
Guana Bust A Nut…so calling Daniel a homosexual is supposed to be some kind of put down? If you’re a representative of the straight community, I’m sure he’d rather be chueco.
@escobar: Ok, but I’m a little nervous. Also I didn’t know you were into the daddy/son scene?
Sorry I’m late to the party! FYI I’m totally teh ghey!1!1!!
@ Fredo and Escobar
Who is the daddy? Who is the son?
Nobody calls me daddy unless I’m playin’ bongos and wearin’ a beret.
