Nom Nom: Dulce De Coco
29 October 2008, 4:30 PM. By Carlos Posas
You ask, we deliver. Just like Papa John’s, or a prostitute. Passing out dulce de coco and leche quemada this Halloween instead of just, well, passing out will make you the most popular Joe Plumber on the block. Or you’ll get a lot of people dressed as ICE officials beating down your door.
Anyguey. Here’s the recipe, simple and sweet:
Ingredients:
3 c. light brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. evaporated milk
2 tbsp. butter
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2/3 c. fresh shredded coconut
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, salt and milk. Heat over low heat until sugar is dissolved. Increase heat and cook slowly until smooth. Stir occasionally.
Remove from heat, add butter, vanilla and cream of tartar. Let cool.
When cool, beat until creamy smooth. Add coconut. Mix until thick.
Pour into buttered square pan, chill. Cut into squares.
And then proceed to go into a sugar coma.

Wow…you Guanadamas are responsive! I just asked about this yesterday!
Gee…I sure would like a pony…
Say, how do you make the pink stripe at the top of this candy? Do I gotta buy me some red dye number two?
