Following the whole hubbub over Sarah Palin’s pricey wardrobe, Puerto Ricans would like to remind us that their government officials are just as shady. As you might recall, Puerto Rican Governor Jose Anibal Acevedo was criticized for, among other things, receiving $57,000 in high-end clothing, paid for by high-level business men close to his campaign. Now Puerto Rico’s Popular Democratic Party were fuming that the United States government has not investigated purchases made on behalf of Sarah Palin. He’s forgetting one little detail, though:
Party executive director Anibal Jose Torres said Wednesday a grand jury should probe the Republican Party’s spending of US$150,000 on Palin’s clothes, makeup and accessories.
The difference is that the Republican Party appears to have reported Palin’s expenses.
Federal authorities allege Puerto Rican Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila did not.
Yeah, see, maybe those purchases weren’t particularly responsible or, given the current economic climate, socially responsible. But they weren’t hidden, per se. Like, they totally reported it after people began to question the appropriateness of spending so much campaign money on clothing and makeup. Besides, it’s not as if anyone is going to notice what a man in politics is wearing, usually because they are too busy paying attention to what he’s saying. But that Sarah Palin. Sure is a cutie. With nice hair! But, trivialities. The Anibals are jealous that they don’t look as well put-together in a red skirt suit.
