Addressing a crowd at the Al Smith white-tie fundraising dinner in New York for Catholic charities, Barack Obama joked lightheartedly about John McCain and Sarah Palin’s recent cries of “Do you know the real Barack Obama?!” Among the highlights in Obama’s speech about his true persona were that the revelation that he descends from the planet Krypton, — for those of you with no understanding of comics, that’s where Superman was born — that his middle name is “less terrorist” than you might believe (it’s actually Steve) and that, yes, he’s hung out with punks and hoodlums.

Then he fried the entire audience to a crisp with his laser-beam eyes. Watch video footage of the event and, if you’re us, wonder if these are the first stirrings of a massive crush on a politician:
