Moviefone recently took a poll, in honor of the new movie Twilight, asking people to vote for the people they thought made the sexiest male and female vampires. Robert Pattinson came in #1 for the males with 18% of the vote (for a movie that doesn’t premiere until tomorrow and that the vast majority of people have not even seen), beating out Brad Pitt who got 15% for his role in Interview with the Vampire and not necessarily for his role as Angelina’s newest accessory since her vial of blood. Salma Hayek took the #1 spot for females with 22% for her role in Quentin Tarantino’s From Dusk Till Dawn. Kate Beckinsale came in at #2 with 20%.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about the poll, though, is that 622,188 people voted to rank the men while 1,212,948 people voted to rank the women. That’s nearly twice as many people logging on to the internet to let the world know who they think is the sexiest female vampire. And, imagine, Salma Hayek, who wore that maroonish bikini throughout her short role in the film — and that short role itself comprised mostly of a seductive dance— came in at #1. Do you think it’s her Latina curves that got her the top spot? Or did it come down to her skimpy bikini versus Kate Beckinsale’s leather-clad vampire from Underworld? Oh, mysteries never to be penetrated.
