Daylight has dawned in two time zones of the United States on this auspicious Election Day. We couldn’t contain our excitement and, in an effort to avoid outrageous voter turn out lines, went ahead and arrived at our polling place before doors were even open this morning and we still ended up waiting half an hour to get inside the booth. Of course, we’re blogging it and we weren’t the only press there. Local NPR station WNYC was on hand to interview black people about how they’re feeling. Hey, Mexicans are feeling pretty kick ass, too. Not to get really corny, but as the sun was coming up on our walk over to the polling place, we had to walk by a cluster of trees outside the building (very rare in Manhattan) and a chorus of birds actually broke out in song. Check out our beatific voting pics after the jump. Then get yourself to the polls if you haven’t already. Latinos can decide this election! Send us your Election Day photos and we’ll post the best ones.

    @Leesee: NY state doesn’t have early voting, so we are all chomping at the bit.

    @La Cindy: That’s so lame!

    I voted two weeks ago and I have no fun pictures. I only have stories of my mom talking about how God would decide who the best person to run the country is. At least she voted Obama.

    I arrived at my polling place at 7 am and was informed the wait was 2 and a half hours long! So I ducked out and came to work and my boss gave me the go ahead to leave work 2 hours early. Sweet resolution. Too bad though, when I got up this morning I woke up feeling impossibly fresh and energized, prime voting energy. After work I will be dull and cranky, because I hate working.

    I voted last week and it took 3 minutes to get into the booth. Also, it was one of those electronic voting machines and the glare of my camera flash was blinding. So no photos. :(

    But I did see a guy who had to tape his Obama shirt before voting because you can’t wear political paraphernalia to the polls.

    Hi Cindy,

    I just got back from voting! I’ll be anxiously awaiting to hear that Obama won! Your Dad voted early. Proud of you and love your photo and your blog on election day! The wait in Brownsville, TX was not long–we’ve had record early voting and hopefully tonight we’ll have long lines, which I have avoided.

    I voted early as well and there was a huge line. I was there for about an hour. When my turn finally came, and I asked how to write in a vote (NY lever machines), I caused a scene without meaning to. Apparently I was the first person today to want to do that and some people freaked out. But they were nice and helped me out. So I feel great about my vote!
