Steven Soderbergh's New Che Movie Fits Cuba's Standards For Historical Accuracy

Steven Soderbergh’s new movie, Che, is so Fidel-friendly that Cuba is allowing the four-hour movie to be shown at Havana’s New Latin American Film Festival next month. The movie will be shown as a special presentation and will not be eligible for any of the festival’s awards.

In the movie the Argentine Che Guevara is portrayed by Puerto Rican Benicio del Toro. Scenes in the movie that take place in Cuba were shot in Bolivia and Spain. And with this kind of accuracy, Che might just escape execution.

Alright, so the movie might still be historically accurate. But, if Fidel Castro likes it, do you really think it will be? Did it include Che’s involvement in the creation of labor camps, for instance? This is the man who wouldn’t allow Cubans to stay in “foreigner-only” hotels, probably to limit possible conversations, and banned private ownership of cellphones. On the other hand, if he deemed the film accurate after reading its script, he may just be right. After all, he is fantastically literate. Were you aware that Cuba’s literacy rate hovers around 734%? And the island’s math skills are nothing to be sneezed at, either. Anyway. Despite del Toro’s “Best Actor” win at Cannes for this film, we’ll believe the historical accuracy when we see it.

uh oh! do i detect some cuban-american sass?! thanks for voting democrat guys, for once…

There must be something positive that can be said of Che. Is he just a one-dimensional despot? Probably not.

i haven’t seen it, but i have high hopes. soderbergh is the kind of relativist that should be making historical movies, it’ll be a real shame if it’s a whitewash. it’s not about good or bad, it’s about subverting reality to entertainment.

Something good could be said of Che as something good could be said of Hitler, but why would you want to, considering the suffering of their victims?

Che Guevara was a mass- murdering racist who personally enjoyed administering the coup de grace, the final bullet to the back of the neck. Che was an Argentinian who served as Fidel Castro’s numero uno thug and executioner along. He presided over summary executions at La Cabaña, the infamous fortress of slaughter. He paraded people past El Paredón, the blood stained execution wall where his victims were killed. No trials or evidence of any guilt was necessary, El Che dispensed with such bourgeois notions as due process. He established Cuba’s labor camp system in where thousands of dissidents, artists, homosexuals, and freedom loving democrats have suffered and died, this is the Cuban gulag.

Is that multi-dimensional enough for you Elcid?

O.K well mr. or ms. ziva.
U think you know history very well. who do you think still spreads their influence WORLD WIDE. WHITE, CAUCASIAN, EUROPEAN, CONTROL FREAKS. The victors of war can REwrite HIS-story any way they want all of us to believe WITHOUT question. CAUCASIAN Elites are the instigators and causers of all wars. Travel the world and you’ll see how many conditioned people in the world want to be in that EUROCENTRIC, AMERICAN, consciousness that slowly deteriorates all ethnic cultures. ASK yourSELF, WHAT is WHITE culture???? christi-INSANITY and all it’s off shoots, or some viking WHITE ANGLO SAXXON, greek bullshit
FUCK your JESUS christ, He does not exist. Only real spirituality and freedom of pure will exist, and that is what Che wanted to show his bredrin and free his people from WESTERN EUROPEAN, NEO COLINIZATION, which is still in excersised now as i write this. But we have to live in this CONTROLLED environment That your EUROCENTRIC consciousness still perpetuates. feel free to dog me down ziva.
