Bill Richardson To Be Named Barack Obama’s Commerce Secretary
2 December 2008, 4:50 PM. By Alex Alvarez
President-elect Barack Obama will announce Bill Richardson as this country’s next Commerce Secretary tomorrow. Richardson, who is 61 (Brown don’t… frown?), had previously been discussed as acting as Obama’s Secretary of State, had Senator Hillary Clinton not been like, “Yeah, fine, this is good too:”
Once dubbed the “Indiana Jones” of US diplomacy, Richardson is famed for daring head-to-head encounters with strongmen leaders on the US pariah list, including Iraq’s executed president Saddam Hussein and Cuba’s Fidel Castro.
Encounters with dictators, growing a mustache, wearing a bolo tie with finesse… is there anything this man can’t do?:
Critics however have complained he hogged the media spotlight, and took his eye off administrative responsibilities.
False. He needs one little spotlight for his mustache alone.
