While it is totally advisable to spend every waking hour thinking and talking about men, it is apparently kind of creepy to text them after a date. Who knew? Cosmo did, of course!

In an article on “texting etiquette,” Cosmo en Español advises against texting men after hooking up with them, because it will reduce the likelihood that they’ll want to see you again. Who wants to be around people who enjoy their company, right?

The article also warns against texting while drunk, which is probably a good idea, even if every drunk text we’ve personally ever sent amounts to little more than “Thnx d 4 teh dogg luuuv pizza k loi cal 4 teeth cute cute,” as well as texting when angry. Only, they don’t mean texting things like, “I m so fuking mad at u for ordering egg rolls when i clearly asked 4 dumplins, u r a tard.” They mean asking, “Why haven’t you called me?” because the question will make you seem insecure. Unlike reading Cosmo.

Also a no-no? Texting while attempting to be funny. They give the example: “You were out of control last night!” Which maybe suggests that one should only refrain from texting jokes to really stupid, literal people.

Finally, the article warns against texting a guy twice in one day. So if you need your boyfriend to drop off your keys but already texted him to let him know someone was masturbating on the subway LOL, you’re out of luck.

Our advice? Text whenever you feel like it. If the person has a problem with it, he or she will probably let you know by not responding or texting something like “i will get restraining order ok!” If you feel like you might be overdoing it or annoying people while they’re busy, go with your gut and cut it out.
