Daddy Yankee was in San Antonio last week at the Museo Alameda–”the nation’s largest Latino museum and first formal Smithsonian affiliate”–because we live in a country where a man who waxes cars with women’s asses, if that man is Latino, can be honored by our nations most prestigious institutions. In addition to misspelling the word “regaetton,” a press release emailed to us from the museum told the entire, sordid tale:

Latino music superstar Daddy Yankee was honored [...] for his contributions to Latino arts and culture in the United States and abroad. Ramón (Raymond) Ayala, known artistically as Daddy Yankee, received a proclamation from San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger naming him an “Emissary of the Muses” for his artistic achievements.

“Daddy Yankee is the embodiment of the Latino experience in America,” said Henry R. Munoz III, founding chairman of the Museo Alameda.

Our puffy taco just herniated a little.

    yeah, that’s really lame.

There are plenty of Latino artists that are probably more deserving than him.

They should have given it to Tony winner, Lin-Manuel Miranda. At least his acceptance speech would have been something to talk about.

Instead they gave the award to this douche nozzle. Did you see the pics of that day? He showed up to accept the award while wearing a hat and sunglasses indoors.

His name is Ramon Ayala? Maybe they meant to give it to Ramon Ayala as in the Norteno guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ram%C3%B3n_Ayala

Either way its just embarrassing. Unless, by “latino experience” they are talking about bumping into dudes like him on the street, club, etc. Where, like in a zoo, you observe them cat calling girls with “hey mamita pa donde tu va con ese culo?” - Yeah, that has to be it.
