Designer Roberto Cavalli Designs Tacky Clubs Now, Too

Roberto Cavalli — who might just be the tackiest man in the whole, wide world — opened a club in Florence, Italy in a former 15th century church. There’s nothing quite like draping a former holy place in tiger print. He did have to fork out about $4 million dollars to restore the place, seeing how Italy’s restoration laws required the building’s structure to remain unaltered.
Details include a stage and piano where the altar once stood, an intimate dining area for 50 on the second floor and a giant snake sculpture winding around the bar. It offers apple martinis to women in gold bikinis. Says Cavalli, tackily:
“I know Florentines will criticize this decor because it’s hard for them to get used to mixing modernity and tradition, and it would certainly have been easier to go with classic Florentine designs, but I wanted to convey my own style. I like the juxtaposition of innovation and restoration. There is harmony in blending present and past, and I think this is an avant-garde locale that was missing in Florence.”
Cavalli is also considering opening a club in New York, which is perfect because obnoxious ibankers can no longer afford to go out.
What do you think - would you want to party in Cavalli’s club, or can you get pretty much the same experience visiting a tacky old Cuban woman’s house in Cocoplum?

I think if Cavalli used his superpower to put more old priests in leopard print than old churches, there might be less altar boys getting molested. Because priests don’t need to prey on innocent children when they look FAbuLUUUUS.
@escobar: Hahah good one. *high five*
The leopard print chairs make me feel bad…inside.
I know my eyesight is bad and it’s why I wear glasses but Cavali, ay bendito mijo, you need your eyes checked, and maybe your brain too.
My eyes are bleeding from just looking at the photos. It’s a crime to take such beautiful architecture and cover it in barf inside.
