If my adopted child said something negative in a public arena that reflected poorly on me, I would be hurt and and disappointed but I could not disown her as I could not disown my arm. Foolish of her to do so, but families always disagree, forgive, reconcile, rekindle love & move on to being a family again. Jeff (Kiwi down under)

Since she was adopted, he really doesn’t have to include her in his will. She should be thankful for the life she lived as a child. Not many of us are that lucky. She’s old enough now to get a job and make money. Aren’t we all required to do that?

Just because his son married a woman who had a kid by another man–and his *son* adopted that kid it doesn’t mean HE has to relate to her as a real granddaughter.
Some people with kids that marry into money have *really unrealistic* expectations when it comes to *their* offspring. Who don’t even come from that bloodline!

I have to say his comment was pretty cold:

“I have not emotionally or legally adopted you as a grandchild, nor have the rest of my family adopted you as a niece or a cousin.”

I always thought he was pretty cool; now, I just don’t know.
