In an effort to help all our Guanababies spend their economic stimulus checks with -reckless abandon- careful thought and caution, we’re putting together a series of 12 days’ worth of gift lists. And while they are void of partridges and/or fruit-bearing trees, we’re sure that our selections — organized from “steal” to “splurge” — will provide inspiration when it comes to selecting gifts for friends, family and office Secret Santa swaps where you select That New Guy who always smells like peanuts.

We’re starting off our very first list with seven gift ideas for the bookworm in your lives. After the jump, find some inspiration for your favorite avid reader:

“Squirt!” Write-On Book Label by Nut and Bee - 8 for $4

These book labels provide a cute and simple way of labeling one’s library, as well as a sweet option for presenting books as gifts.

VW Cat / Dog Roadtrip Bookmarks by kilkennycat - $8

These cute (and handmade) bookmarks provide a nice alternative to paperclips and dogears.

Conceal Bookshelf by Miron Lior/Umbra Design Group - $15

Designed by a Pratt graduate, this wall-mounted shelf disappears once you place books on it, making it seem as if your library is floating in mid-air.

His & Hers Bookends at Modcloth - $17.99

We love it when iconic images are reinterpreted.

2666 by Roberto Bolaño - $21

Why? Because it’s going to be Guanabee’s January Book Club book!

XOO Bookends by Vessel Architectural Pottery - $190

The slightly crinkled look of these ceramic bookends are so lovely. (We’re a sucker for textured pottery and ceramics.)

Leaf Lamp by Yves Béhar for Herman Miller - $449.10

Far and away the single most unusual-looking desk lamp we’ve ever seen, the Leaf Light contains an integrated microprocessor which includes the capability to remember owners’ preferred settings. The lamp’s LED system allows it to deliver a spectrum of light ranging from 2800 to 6000 Kelvin, assuring it brightens even the darkest of wintery-gray Sunday morning.

I dig the book club idea! I’m in!

I have to get a copy of 2666. And by the looks of it (almost 900 pages), I should start soon. I have to find a way to squeeze 2666 in before my next class starts in January.
