Man Blogs During Plane Crash, Lives To Twitter The Tale
23 December 2008, 11:15 AM. By Camilla Rowan
Mike Wilson’s plane was attempting to take off from the Denver airport when it suddenly skidded off the runway and crashed 2000 feet away, bursting into flames. Wilson, of course, immediately updated his status on the social site Twitter, writing; “Holy fucking shit I wasbjust [sic] in a plane crash!” 110 passengers and five crew members were on the plane, but luckily there were no fatalities and only 38 injuries (none immediately life-threatening). So far there has been no official consensus on why the plane crashed but Wilson’s twitters described what he could see during the crash, and then what he and other passengers remembered after the fact:
by the time the plane stopped we were burning pretty well and I think I could feel the heat even through the bulkhead and window.
Wilson then wrote, half an hour after his first report that the plane had crashed:
Ugh … My glasses fell off in the mass exodus getting off the plane .. Can’t see very well 5:57 PM Dec 20th
Remember that at this point the plane is on fire.
Wilson and the other passengers were then escorted to an airport lounge where Wilson complained that they were not served drinks.
You have your wits scared out of you, drag your butt out of a flaming ball of wreckage and you can’t even get a vodka-tonic. Boo.
(ed. note: Hear hear.) Wilson has now become, at least according to the internet, the first person to Twitter live from a plane crash. Does this make him awesome or a complete idiot? Who the heck has the presence of mind to update their status when they’re fleeing from the broken, flaming wreckage of a plane? Our only guess is that maybe he got some relief from it.
Twittering/blogging/facebooking makes us feel simultaneously connected to remote people and removed from our immediate surroundings, and we can understand how Wilson might have wanted to make himself feel momentarily detached. Still…dork.

His computer’s internet connection was probably the reason why the plane crashed. What a tool. Also, if I survived such a thing, I’d be requesting motherfucking Cristal by the bucketfuls from the airline.
