Mexican Principal Suspends 15 Boys For Having “Gay” Eyebrows

Rubén Reyes Urbina, principal of a high-school in Matamoros, Mexico, suspended 15 -girls- guys at his school for having plucked eyebrows. Urbina defended his decision with the infallible argument that plucking or shaving your eyebrows is a practice “unique to women or young men with a homosexual tendency.” The -girls- boys were between the ages of 13 and 15, and were punished by being suspended from school for three days, right in the middle of an exam period. Much of Latin America is already a difficult enough place to be gay, what with serial-gay killers and all, so really now, is it necessary to be harassing people over their eyebrow style?
Discriminating based on appearance is ridiculous and what’s worse, indicative of how much homosexuality is still regarded as unacceptable and reprehensible in many parts of Mexico. One group is trying to get justice for the -girls- guys- the Tamaulipan Youth Institute is complaining that the principal’s actions were discriminatory against appearance. Sadly, the crux of their argument rests on the idea that the eyebrows might not be gay, they might just be a new fashion, not on the fact that discrimination based on sexual orientation is shitty.
The -girls- boys completed their suspension time and are now out of school for Christmas vacation. Maybe they can grow out a style more pleasing to the principal in time for the spring semester, say, a unibrow?

And the defense is
“A nadie se le puede negar el derecho de entrar a un plantel nada más porque luce diferente al resto de los alumnos o porque decidió hacer un cambio en su persona; vemos a todas luces una discriminación que preocupa pues se trata de un centro formador de personas que no está en las mejores manos”.”
You cannot deny anyone the right to enter the premises just because they look different from the rest of the students or have decided to make a change in their person; we see in every light a discrimination which is worrisome as this is a formative certer of people who are not in the best hands.
So…the whole point is that discrimination sucks, and maybe a school shouldn’t be promoting or employing it.
