Miss Sinaloa 2008 Laura Zuniga Forfeits Title, Is Ready For The Investigative Detention Portion Of This Pageant

Laura Zuniga, the Mexican beauty queen who was recently arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling, has been stripped of her pageant title for failing to uphold the standards it supposedly represents. Apparently being Miss Sinaloa does not include riding around in trucks full of guns with murderous drug dealers. Who knew?

Controversy continues to surround the pageant queen as a Sinoloan official has come forward to express doubt over whether Zuniga went through the proper auditions to enter the MIss Sinaloa pageant. Newspaper columnists have gone as far to suggest that her title was won through orchestrations by her drug lord boyfriend. See, mom? Dating a doctor won’t earn you squat.

Zuniga is currently being kept for 40 days in investigative detention. She maintains that she did not know of her boyfriend’s involvement in the notorious Juarez drug cartel. Trust and truth are the basis of a solid relationship, Laurita! The ability to buy you a crown should always come second to that.

So, we guess Mexico’s beauty queens smuggle drugs, Puerto Rico’s season their tangas with pepper spray and ours just stutter through strange statements about “The Iraq” and “U.S. Americans” before retiring backstage to partake in snorting through a mountain of coke. It all comes full circle.
