Take Our Poll: Do You Think Lucky Magazine Lightened Cover Model Rosario Dawson?
5 December 2008, 6:15 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Do you notice anything odd about this magazine cover? Other than the fact that we’re hard-pressed to visualize what strange and wondrous dimensions might await us in the realms “beyond sexy.” Does Rosario Dawson look a little… pale?
At least one Guanabee tipster seems to think that whoever worked on Photoshopping the January 2009 issue of Lucky took a few liberties with Miss Dawson’s complexion. While we don’t deny that magazines tend to whitewash their darker-complected models — ahem — we’re not entirely sure that’s what’s going on here.
Still undecided? After the jump, check out a side-by-side comparison and then take our poll and let us know if you think something sketchy is afoot over at Lucky:
See, here’s the thing. Rosario looks much darker in that photo with the coral-dress-that-we-want-right-now. But it could be that she posed for the Lucky cover after being out of the sun for a while or with a huge light pointed at her, right? See, check her out below:
Wearing another dress we covet, god damn it. But looking about the same as on the Lucky cover, right?
What do you all think? Is our favorite Latina the victim of an overzealous Photoshopper, the product of the magazine’s industries never-ending quest to make us all hate ourselves… or just lookin’ a little more pale than usual?

It might have been the lighting. Or not.
It looks like the lighting, not that she was lightened. Like, there’s a glare on her face, practically.
no, she looks like she always does, beauuutiful :)
no. but i do think they skimped on this issue. Its so thin!!!
I liked Rosario until I saw her on TV at the GOP Convention.
I think that they photoshopped her lips and nose.
For shame!
I don’t think they lightened her up too much—i do think she looks like she’s wearing too much makeup! I’m sorry to say that routine manipulation of cover shots for magazines don’t necessarily make my radar go off…
They may have made changes but is it gonna kill anyone?
My skin gets lighter in the winter b/c I’m not outside in the sun. It’s probably the same thing with her. She’s probably darker in the picture wear she’s wearing the coral-colored dress b/c it’s summer time, hence the coral color. Duh
Actually Lissy, if you’ll take a look in the background, you’ll notice that she’s at the Oscars, which takes place in the dead middle of winter so your case kinda falls flat on it’s face. Happy Monday!
I don’t think they lightened here as much as she is on the cover art for the DVD Clerks 2.
However, when I first saw this cover the other day, the first thing I thought was that they “sculpted” her face quite a bit.
