bacon_explosion_12909At first glance, “bacon explosion” might bring to mind the first time you friend sent you a seemingly innocent link to something called “Tub Girl.” But it’s actually a dish made with about seventy billion pounds of meat. You know. In case you really love meat or really hate the thought of reaching 40.

The dish was created by two people from Kansas City and consists of two pounds of bacon and two pounds of Italian sausage. The sausage of formed into logs, wrapped with a basket-weave pattern of bacon strips, and then stuffed with some additional bacon. The whole thing is slathered in BBQ sauce and smoked. The dish gained popularity after one of its creators, Aaron Chronister, who happens to be an internet marketer, blogged about his creation. Chronister and his partner in heart failure, Jason Day, are heading to New York tomorrow to talk about the Bacon Explosion on “FOX & Friends.” Total sausage fest.

Anygay, a lot of people are up in arms over the fact that the Bacon Explosion has 5,000 calories and 500 grams of fat. America is so fat! Our eating habits are so terrible! Oh, please. You’re not going to eat the entire friggin’ log in one sitting. (Are you?) You’re going to spread some on a cracker or place a few slices, lovingly, in between two giant glazed donuts.

Get over it, America. We love bacon, be it in cup form (with a small helping of green salad, natch), donut form, or the form crippling regret about a half hour after consumption.

Oh sweet bacon Jesus, the end times are near.

  2. Do you think they can put some cheese on it? Then I could dip it in ranch.

    • i think in a light beer batter (we are health conscious!), deep fried and then sprinkled with some powdered sugar.
