President-elect Barack Obama has tapped neurosurgeon and CBS and CNN correspondent — he’s the host of CNN’s “House Call” — Dr. Sanjay Gupta as this country’s next Surgeon General. Dr. Gupta has apparently expressed an interest in the position and is currently undergoing a thorough vetting process. Because, well. Ahem. Score for the other Team Brown.

Interestingly, Dr. Gupta wrote speeches and crafted policy for Hillary Clinton back in the 90s. And, while he’s said to be obviously very excited about the possible nomination, Dr. Gupta is hesitant on at least one front:

Gupta’s only hesitation in taking the post is said to involve the financial impact on his pregnant wife and two children if he gives up his lucrative medical and journalistic careers. But he is expected to accept the position within days.

Everyone together: Awwww!

What will his family do if he goes from seven figures to only six!? Poor guy, what a tough decision.
