Bitter Barter: California Man Sells Daughter For Beer, Meat
13 January 2009, 1:55 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Narrowly beating out Luis Miguel for Father of the Year, a man in Greenfield, California has been arrested after selling his 14-year-old daughter into marriage (Is that the official term for sexual slavery now?) in exchange for $16,000, 100 cases of beer and several cases of meat. We hope it was anything but olive loaf, because that would be embarrassing.
So how did police learn about this exchange? The man turned to them for help after her daughter’s new “husband” failed to keep up his part of the bargain. He was promptly arrested on suspicion of human trafficking. Police also arrested an 18-year-old on suspicion of statutory rape.
Officers say that arranged marriages among underage children is becoming a growing problem in this area of California. Which makes us see our former high school classmates who attended college as “the icing on their wedding cake” in a more positive light.
Why would this be prevalent? Poverty? Machismo? Inexplicable love of olive loaf?

What. What kind of beer are we talking about?
The most important part was the fact that the beer in question was MODELO and CORONA.
Seems like a good deal. Who couldn’t use some extra cash/meat?
it was either that or a shitty quinces at shakey’s
Aren’t dowries supposed to be the other way around?
This guy had to be stopped.
He was setting the price way too high…forcing the market up…creating a bubble.
Sure. This is all so funny.
