Dr. Richard Batista of Long Island, NY is suing his ex-wife Dawnell for the kidney he donated to her while the two were married or $1.5 million. Love is a many-splendored thing. He gave her his kidney eight years ago, and she thanked him by promptly sleeping with her physical therapist. He admits that part of the reason he donated his kidney was to attempt to salvage their already failing relationship. Says Batista:

“My first priority was to save her life. The second bonus was to turn our marriage around.”

Nothing saves a relationship riding rollerskates to Hell quite like giving up an organ. Dr. Batista, who happens to be a surgeon at Nassau University Medical Center, cared for his wife from the moment she began to suffer kidney failure, injecting her three times a week with medication. If only he’d injected her with love!

Shortly after her recovery, Dawnell had a new lease on life and began to take up karate and pursue a Masters degree… in heartbreakery. After suffering an injury during one of her karate lessons, Dawnell began physical therapy. Which apparently included working out her jaw muscles, extensively, with the help of her physical therapist. Cries Batista:

“This is my last resort. I didn’t want to be in the public eye.”

Are organs no longer one’s property once they’ve been donated? Why, this looks like a case for…. The Repo Man!

As a mother who donated a kidney to her infant daughter, I now have a level of guilt to hold over her head I never thought of before! Take care of your poor mother . . . or I want it back!
