We are tickled pink to announce the first book in our new, biweekly book club: Chilean author Roberto Bolaño's 2666.
Here's how this will work: We'll assign a certain number of pages / chapters every two weeks and, at the end of that time, we'll feature a more or less open thread to allow people following along to discuss what we've read so far. We'll also feature our own questions and observations to try and get the conversation going.
If you happen to have any books you'd like us to feature in our book club -- either by a Latino author or about Latinos -- please let us know! We're going to stick to fiction for now, but we might make an exception for something like an autobiography or collection of personal essays. Got it? Good.
Your first assignment (should you choose to play along) is after the jump:
Ok! 200 pages in two weeks. Come on, you can do it. We'll be reading right along with you as a nice change of pace from our usual evening routine of crying alone the shower. Our very first "meeting" will be Friday, January 23rd.
Please feel free to give us any suggestions for future books, or any input on what you'd like to see come out of these meetings.
Woo, etc!
