donut Krispy Kreme is giving away a free donut to every customer tomorrow, in honor of Obama's inauguration and to celebrate "freedom of choice." Naturally this is liberal-speak for "ABORTION DONUT," so the American Life League is now protesting Krispy Kreme and condemning their free donut day. How cheery. Here's the actual press release from Krispy Kreme:
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. is honoring American's sense of pride and freedom of choice on Inauguration Day, by offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer on this historic day, Jan. 20. By doing so, participating Krispy Kreme stores nationwide are making an oath to tasty goodies -- just another reminder of how oh-so-sweet "free" can be.
Unless we see placental lining used as donut filling, we'd be hesitant to call this a pro-abortion campaign by Krispy Kreme. The American Life League seems to have a knee-jerk reaction to the word "choice," since they released a statement condemning both Krispy Kreme's decision and Obama's abortion stance;
President-elect Barack Obama promises to be the most virulently pro-abortion president in history. Millions more children will be endangered by his radical abortion agenda. Celebrating his inauguration with 'Freedom of Choice' doughnuts - only two days before the anniversary of the Supreme Court decision to decriminalize abortion - is not only extremely tacky, it's disrespectful and insensitive and makes a mockery of a national tragedy.
Really guys? Equating free donuts celebrating "choice" with pro-choice politics? Somehow we doubt that a franchise donut establishment would feel the need to get all political-especially when they're conveying their message with corny jokes about freedom being sweet and calling their product a "favorite American treat." Fast food chains trying to appeal to a broad audience with folksy, patriotic slogans don't traditionally work the abortion angle- studies have shown it doesn't help donut sales, for some reason. Guess again, American Life League- and everyone else, enjoy your free donut and try not to kill any babies.

    "Freedom of choice" does not refer to the choice as to whether to have a baby or not. It refers to the freedom to choose our leaders. It has nothing to do with abortion; your post is completely misdirected.

    The bottom line is that the reason that abortions are legal is because the majority of the population believes that they should be. It's called democracy people.

    Man, conservatives are absolutely hypocritical. They are anti-choice because it's "killing a child" but they are ok with the death penalty. So, basically the government can decide when someone should die but a woman can't make a decision about a "death" occurring within her own body? Ok... It comes down to, like some commenters have said, the government's role in individual human lives. If the church says abortion is wrong, that's entirely irrelevant to legislative and judicial decisions--hello, separation of church and state anyone? It's the same with the issue of gay marriage--what the Bible says about is entirely irrelevant, it is a decision of whether government, supposedly separated from religion, should legally recognize the marital union of two members of the same sex. And aren't conservatives supposed to be the ones in favor of limited government involvement anyway? Dumb asses...

    "there are 1000s of people who would kill to have a baby" There are tens of thousands of orphans and foster children in america who would kill to have a family. If you're out protesting abortion and you don't have any adopted or foster children, you are only fooling yourself. If all the active "pro-life" protestors adopted one child in the US, late-term abortion would be so rare as to be statistically irrelevant, because the demand for otherwise "unwanted" children would be huge. I bet you won't find a lot of pro-life demonstrators out there who have adopted 8-year-old black children, despite the huge need.
