Obesity Virus Will Get You, Says Science
26 January 2009, 2:38 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Researchers at the Department of Nutritional Sciences at Wisconsin University have come out saying that obesity, in some cases, may be partially caused by an infectious disease. Pringles?
According to a study available in the American Journal of Physiology, Regulatory Integrative and Comparative Physiology, the human adenovirus Ad-37 has been found to cause obesity in chickens. The research team involved with the study have been able to identify a total of three different human viruses that result in obese chickens. Presumably, these viruses will also cause obesity in humans, but further research is needed. Doctors also say that people who are not obese might still carry the virus. Fowl!
The ultimate goal is to identify these viruses in order to develop an anti-obesity vaccine.
Which makes us wonder to what extent these viruses, if they are indeed shown to cause obesity in humans, will act as an excuse for people who might have an obesity-related virus but who also have poor eating habits and get little to no exercise. Our guess is “to a great extent.”

So the obesity virus causes obesity, but if you’re not obese you might still carry it? Sounds like a lot of BS to me to give people something to blame for being fat.
