098 A 23 year old woman from Valencia, Spain, was murdered a month ago by a man alleged to be of Moroccan descent, and now her mourners want to hold a anti-immigrant protest to express their anger. Spain says: Ok!

The demonstration planned for this Saturday was organized by “España 2000″ a conservative political group that’s been gaining popularity in Valencia. They’re known for an anti-immigration stance that advocates the immediate expulsion of any discovered illegal immigrant, so a march planned by them over a murder by a Moroccan man clearly has more to it than just sadness over a tragic death.

But they got the go-ahead from the Spanish government, on the grounds that the freedom to demonstrate was a constitutional right. Must be crazy to live in Spain, where anyone from Northern Africa is a “moor” and freedom of speech includes blatant hate-speech like “Islam is a cancer to European society” (a quote from España 2000’s leader, José Luis Roberto). Ok so fine, maybe America has its fair share of xenophobic hate crimes, but allowing this demonstration just seems in poor taste. How about protesting gender-motivated violence (there was a suggestion that the murder was a crime of passion) or just assault in general? You can have a “take back the night” march- but take it back for everyone.

  1. Not surprised at all, these are the same people, who throw bananas at their colored players, and dance in the stands like monkeys. Did we also forget the subway video of a Barcelona civilian hitting a young female immigrant without for no cause.

Spanish people should be like Sweden. Neutral. I think.

  2. Mr. Bolano, as intellectual as your writing makes you seem (gotta admit haven’t actually read you), you’re geographical knowledge is lacking. It’s Switzerland that’s neutral. But that’s ok, many smart people mistake those two.

As much as this is poor taste, to try and stop them would go against the principles of democracy. You know that old Thomas Paine saying, or whoever the hell it was, I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death for it t be said (I’m paraphrasing).

Perhaps Mr. Bolano, you can be my intellectualism consultant and I can be your geographical one. Thanks.

  3. Bolano was being a smartass:

  4. But but but, in our modern society of today, blogs and wikipedia are the most trusted sources of news. As Jessica Alba pointed out earlier this week with Sweden being neutral and cool during WW2.

All tongue in cheek, of course, these are the sole reasons humanity is failing. We make complicated truths to simple lies.

It is also noted, Spain, Sweden, Vatican City and Switzerland were all considered neutral during WW2 but still committed ‘moral’ wrongs. Spain under General Franco killed all the ‘leftists’, Sweden allowed the Nazis to use their railroads and supplied them with Steel (Panzer Division Tanks do need steel), Vatican City closed their borders to the refuge Jews and Switzerland have been accused of doing business with the Nazi regime before, during and after the war.

Spain, historically, has always been racist and intolerable to other people. The wars between the moors and the ousting of the Jews during the first Spanish Inquisition, the Spanish people are still behind.

I totally disagree with all of this, the march to modernity has blinded the human race to what we should be marching for. Life is a march through thorns, what should lead us is the stars, but now, it is greed, race and power, hence our modern society is falling apart.

  5. Oooooh Mr. Bolano, the way you talk, all that knowledge, it’s making me so hot. Of course you were tongue in cheek. So was I. What I really wish is that your tongue was in my cheek, and you know to which cheek I am referring. BAAAAzing

  6. Come to me my son, it is cold here.

  7. K I’m bowing out of this one…give you two some privacy…

  8. Wait, where are you? Why is it cold? Is that what being in purgatory’s like?

  9. Also, Camila, Valencia is very very conservative, so the march is not at all surprising. Valencia is like Athens, GA, a KKK rally would not be out of place or out of character of their citizens.
