Tijuana Too Dangerous For U.S. Marines
23 January 2009, 12:10 PM. By Cindy Casares
A new order handed down from Lt. Gen. Samuel Helland at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California says Marines are banned from going to Mexico because it’s too dangerous. Semper fi! Or not! The order was handed down at Christmas to keep off-duty Marines away from Tijuana, but has now been extended indefinitely after 843 deaths have been reported in the border city due to drug wars that, apparently, are unstoppable even by the “deadliest weapon in the world.” Let this be a lesson to you, the border is no party. Cough.

i am offended by the use of this picture as a portrayal of Mexico.
lol - it’s better than those stupid white kids at that stupid preppie college.
How is this not offensive? This site is full of hypocrites. You suck. Way to further the hispanic cause.
Cindy - you are genius. No wonder I heart you!
I don’t get the point of this article. Marines aren’t allowed across the border–so what? Being in San Diego, being a Marine, having many Marine friends, I know and everyone knows Marines shouldn’t go across the border because the haircuts are distinguishable, even the mannerisms, and if anything that makes them targets for the poor little boys selling flowers para un dolar no mas, senor, and getting shitfaced beyond recognition to where they can’t get back to base on time.
are the marines doing drugs they cant pay for? i don’t understand why they get killed.
They can get caught in the crossfire. The border area has become extremely dangerous in the past few years due to drug traffickers battling with each other and with the cops. So, Americans living on the border who normally go across are staying away. And now, even Marines are afraid to vacation there.
Chingao, now I can’t go to the Rosrito Bike race in April. :(
