Video: First Dog To Be Unamerican Labradoodle Or Unpatriotic Portuguese Water Dog, Obama Tells Stephanopoulos

President-elect Barack Obama said on Sunday that he’s at the brink of making a very important decision affecting the state of our great nation - the breed of the United States of America’s First Dog-elect. Obama told George Stephanolous Sunday that he still hasn’t made the choice between a Labradoodle or a Portuguese Water Dog - both the kind of shaggy dogs we don’t much care for. Obama went on to add that they’d like to see if they have either type of dog at their local shelter:
“So, we’re now going to start looking at shelters to see when one of those dogs might come up. We’re closing in on it. This has been tougher than finding a commerce secretary.”
Portuguese Water Dogs are, as the name suggests, purebreds characterized by their love of water sports. If the First Family decides on this breed, we would humbly suggest naming it R. Kelly. Labradoodles, meanwhile, are mutts… or “designer hybrids,” meaning they are specially bred by mixing two different breeds. They’re pretty popular these days, most notably among celebrities like Tiger Woods, Jennifer Aniston and Christie Brinkley. Perez Hilton also has one. But, really. Still?
Interesting tidbit: Obama was actually compared to a Labradoodle during his campaign. Take this except from a HuffPo article, for instance:
An American born politician who spent four years in Indonesia… then returned to Hawaii — and then was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.
Sure, hybrid’s are controversial. The purists want good old fashioned cars that burn gasoline. Hybrids are for sissies. And the hard core cyclists are going to look down their nose at my Hybrid bike. And dog breeders — well, lets just say that the purists have little kind to say about the Labradoodle or our little Puggle. They’re called mutts - or something worse.
So this could be something of an “Eff You!” (Obama does not curse, nor poo.) to detractors. We still have no idea about the Portuguese Water Dog though…
