Alex Rodriguez called Selena Roberts to apologize for calling her a stalker the other day during that awkward ESPN interview. He didn't bother to send a press release or anything lest you find out, something the blogosphere is calling him on. But leave it to trusty CNN's Howard Kurtz to mention it during Reliable Sources last night because, Gawker speculates, Roberts probably leaked it there.
"Well, you know, Selena Roberts, who's a former "New York Times" reporter," Kurtz said, "I am told -- and I can report this exclusively -- that after that interview Alex Rodriguez called her to apologize." He went on to implore CBSSports writer Gregg Doyel, "Let's face it, Gregg, he's never had a great relationship with the press. Many journalists kind of resent him and view him as arrogant." Well, he's dishonest in his marriage, he's dishonest on the job, and he lies to and about the press. Not many people left out of that equation.
But Doyle defended Rodriguez saying he likes him or thinks he likes him because, compared to his agent Scott Boras, he's downright human. Then Doyle recalled the New York Post A-hole cover.

Yes, they don't like A-Rod, so they're going to be pretty harsh in that "A-Hole" headline, which is journalistically abhorrent, but I admit to giggling for about five minutes when I saw it.Oh if that's what you mean by liking A-Rod then we like him, too.
