Anderson Cooper’s Alleged Boyfriend J.D. Ordonez Says Immigrants Should “Learn English”

jdordonez2309We just enjoyed reading a special aggro interview with J.D. Ordonez, the gay dolphin trainer and Real World Brooklyn castmember who allegedly used to hide the salami with Anderson Cooper. The 23 year-old is prone to making inflammatory declarations due, we’re sure, in no small part to his youth and desire to have people look at him. It was no surprise to fans of the show, then, when J.D. came home drunk one night ranting about a drugstore employee who didn’t speak English.

“I said, ‘You’re gonna lose your fucking job!’ I am so tired of these fucking people that don’t speak English….My parents came here on a fucking banana boat, you know, from Cuba.”

Latina Magazine journalist Lee Hernandez figured talking to him when he was sober would clear things up. Surely he wasn’t that full of self-loathing. And after all, things have to be hard for a gay dolphin trainer whose daddy commits identity theft against him. (A phone call from the police preceded the drunken night in question and he told Latina he auditioned for The Real World because he was looking for a real family. Oh, you poor trainwreck.) But, no. He said it sober, too. Writes Hernandez:

[H]e was defensive when I asked him about it. “I was in the privacy of my own home. People don’t realize this, but the Real World house was our house,” he said.

Hey everyone. Turn off your televisions. The Real World house was their house. But what of this “these people” bullshit?

“It is my personal opinion that if you come to the United States, you should learn to speak English. If I moved to France, I should learn to speak French.”

Well, except that French is the official language of France while the United States, our little dolphin rider, has no official language. Sorry, what’s that you say? We don’t speaka da English too well. Look, being able to read, write and understand English is obviously an advantage in this country. But if a person is content living in a tiny monolingual world, (you know, like pretty much 90% of America), then isn’t that their prerogative? Isn’t part of what makes America great the fact that we are all free to express ourselves in the language of our choosing? Like when your castmate Chet was totally offended by your anti-immigrant tirade and you said, “Look this is an a-b conversation and you can just c your way out of it.” No one’s firing you for that blatant abuse of the language.

If we could only get you to run your mouth about something anyone cares about. Like the size of Anderson Cooper’s pinga. Which is the only reason Latina even interviewed you in the first place. And you went and remained all “tight lipped” about it. As if.

    Dear J.D.
What is with the ‘tude? Diversity is not something to frown upon. Tolerance is the key and we all want a little more tolerance. Say for example, you may enjoy gobbling Andersons peen. While you may not expect people to jump up and down for joy at that prospect (except for maybe Anderson), I’m sure you expect people to tolerate you and let you go on about your business peacefully. Same deal here.
One more thing. That whole “You live in amurrica learn teh english” type of rants are things that I’ve encountered from yokels with no sense in their thick one dimensional heads. You don’t want to be associated with that do you?
    xoxo

P.S. One more outburst like that and we will take your Latino card away from you. Then you can no longer use that to lure older, rich, white men into bed. Yea, I thought that would get your attention.

I didn’t realize not speaking the language of the nation you live in (whether it’s official or not) should be celebrated as “diversity.”

Nor did I realize that criticising people for not speaking aforementioned language made you less of a Latino. You learn new things everyday.

There is no official language of the united states. Lets repeat that for maximum impact - There is no official language of the united states. There are a wide variety of people who live here and just as many languages spoken. English may be the most popular but it is hardly the only one. We are a diverse country.

On that second part, you’re right. It doesn’t make him less Latino but it sure makes him an asshole.

Most immigrants of the past DID learn the English language out of respect unlike many other those today. Also keep in mind that over 30 States have passed English as the official language and I expect that number will increase as we get more and more people such as yourself defend not doing something others have done in the past.

“Diveristy” is good but it can be taken too far which is just what people such as yourself are doing. Medication is good for a headache do you take 2 tons of it when you have a headache? Can you imagine if the hundreds of people who came here did not learn the common language? It would be chaos. So if we continue to have people come HERE and disrespect our nation by not doing something so many others have done then we need to push for official English.

One of the last lines says “The United States does not have an official language at the federal level.”
That article was put up 01/23/09.
      You should apologize.

    • and i quote our guest: Your an idiot!

that would be ‘You’re an idiot,’ idiot. YOU’RE an idiot for not knowing YOUR language. so, as fredo suggests and i second it, why don’t you spend some of YOUR free time.letting it sink in that YOU’RE an idiot for not knowing the difference.

      kthx!bai!

    • Dear full blown very proud latina who actually used the education system in the U.S.: That measure was voted down. It was part of an immigration bill that failed to pass.

Cindy-I will say the same thing to you as I did the other poster. English is the official language in over 30 States in the USA. Other groups have had enough respect to learn the language such as Polish, Germans, Japanese, Koreans etc. But today in the name of “what is the law and what is not” you say “its not the law we know English therefore we are not going to learn it”. Well it is the law to be in the country illegally so should the US government really crack down on illegal immigrants?

These people are comming HERE and they should learn the language as others in the past have. People such as yourself only strengthen the idea of making English official at the Federal level in the USA and if this continues I assure you it will happen!

Guest, I hope you never become an attorney. I’d hate to be YOU’RE client with those research skills. Not to mention you’d probably write all YOU’RE legal briefs in ALL CAPS.

  5. @ proud full blown latina

Congrats, you should be proud of knowing how to use a google search, and doing very little research and actually coming out wrong. You’re representing us Latinos well to the rest of the US.

  6. ugggg, that whole scene made me cringe. i was hoping he’d blame it on being drunk. no such luck! i def vote for taking his Latino card!

  7. Maybe his dad used his identity to max out his Latino card. Yeah, that’s it. So he had to cancel it, as a result. And now he doesn’t realize what he’s doing when he says shit like that.

I’m not sure I understand the language issues in the US, or what “official language” means to you down there. Something exclusionary, obviously. I’m Canadian, and our official languages are english and french. That means manufacturers must have both english and french on labels and government offices and agencies must be equipped to provide all services in both languages. It doesn’t mean other languages aren’t also around and respected, there just aren’t the strict requirements on government and companies in those cases. There are lots of areas in our cities where people speak primarily asian languages, punjabi, or what have you. First Nations people speak their traditional languages as they want in their communities. There are plenty of store clerks, especially in areas of ethnic concentration, who have little english or french and nobody expects them to get fired for it (the store owner must have been aware of the fact when they chose to hire that person).

I think a further problem with the JD guy is that he wasn’t able to communicate with the clerk apparently, so how could he know that person wasn’t trying to learn english? It takes time to learn a language. Maybe the clerk is newly arrived and trying to learn in his spare time from his work duties.

  9. The official language should be love, spread the word, or the herpes…
