Carnival’s Samba Dance-Off, Featuring The Samba Schools Of São Paulo And One Excited Man Wearing Sparklers As A Hat
23 February 2009, 6:30 PM. By Camilla Rowan
There’s been a shocking lack of glitter and boobs around here lately, so what better to fill that gap than video from Brazil’s 2009 Carnival celebration? Be titillated and confused by the dancers, and by one adorable bystander who looks like someone strapped sparklers to his head and locked him in a cage.
This is kind of how we secretly imagine Fredo to look:
The twelve competing samba schools will take turns parading over the course of two nights. This past Sunday night marked the first night, as schools opened the competition with all-night dancing at the Sambadrome stadium. This year is special so far for the highly unusual decision to feature two “over-40″ women as parade leaders. Also awesome: The mental image of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva throwing condoms at the crowd from his box seat. What have you tossed to paraders recently, hmmm Obama? “Justice” and “freedom” don’t count.

Hahahah HAAAYYYY!!! Y’all are crazy. I only wear that kind of get-up when it’s sexy time. I complete the look with a bedazzled G-string.
Seriously though, with carnaval, the underwear day and what I’ve seen on the Made In Brazil site is there any reason NOT to go to Brazil for vacation??
I’m going to Rio this summer, but now I’m wishing I were there right now!! It’ll be “winter” there by the time I’m there.
Muito obrigado a vocês, Guanagarotas, para o filme do carnaval! Quem não gosta da samba?
Thank you!
