Chris Brown Attacks Rihanna: “You Started It”

rihanna-chris_brownGossip site Bossip has info from a “high placed source” in Chris Brown’s legal camp who maintains that Rihanna “started” the couple’s fight early Sunday morning, out of jealousy. Nice, Chris Brown & Co. Victim blaming at its finest. Here’s what they’re saying:

They were in the car leaving the Clive Davis party. While Chris was driving, he got a phone call from a young lady. Our source tells us that Rihanna knew that Chris had been messing around with this particular girl and she has, as of late, been the reason for many of their heated arguments. Rihanna got a glimpse of the phone, saw the name and number and immediately recognized who it was. She went ballistic and began to “beat the sh*t” out of Chris (while driving). She was so uncontrollable, that Chris began to fight back in self defense, which ensued the fight. Rihanna’s rage stemmed from Chris’ questionable fidelity in the last few months.

Seeing how it wasn’t Chris Brown’s jaw that was broken, not his fingers and arms that were riddled with bite marks and not his lip that was busted open, we’re going to go with, “And?”

Here’s the thing: Even if she did strike him for whatever reason, it completely did not merit causing what have been described as “horrific” injuries to her face, arms and fingers. So, whether or not this bit of information is true, trying to paint Rihanna as somehow responsible for the fact that she was beaten isn’t exactly doing Chris Brown’s image any favors.

Rihanna’s take on the night’s events have also come to light. The singer says the two were arguing, and Chris decided to pull his rented Lamborghini to the side of the road. Rihanna then grabbed his keys and tossed then out the window. Chris searched for the keys, could not find them, and returned to the car. At this point, says Rihanna, Chris Brown choked her, threatening to kill her, until she lost consciousness. When she awoke, he had already fled the scene.

Rihanna’s mentor, Jay-Z, is also none too pleased with Chris’ behavior. A source close to the mogul says, “He hit the roof. Chris is a walking dead man. He messed with the wrong crew.”

Kanye West has also expressed dismay over the situation, saying: ”Rihanna is so important to our culture … to pop music. I feel like she is the most important artist in music and has the most potential. Her taste level and her age … she has the potential to be the greatest artist of all time. In that sense, I feel like that’s my baby sis. I would do any and everything to help her in any situation.”

Rihanna’s grandmother says the soon to be 21-year-old is recuperating from her injuries. Clara Brathwaite told Barbados,’ Rihanna’s home country, Daily Nation newspaper that the singer is “ok” and is making plans to travel back to Barbados to be with family.

Since this has happened, I have heard oh so many different statements about how Rhianna started it and probably had it coming to her. From cheating to herpes, you can find almost any excuse for what happened. That is just terrible and really sickening to hear from people.
The cherry on the sundae was when I heard someone say that people were being racist about the whole situation! Apparently Chris Brown is getting a bad rap over this because he is black. I was floored, to say the least.

    • You’ve really got to wonder what his legal team is going for. The “she asked for it” angle makes it seem like they know he’s pretty much screwed and are scrambling for anything at this point.

      • The legal team may be going for self defense angle, but in this case, Chris Brown not just subdued his attacker, but threaten to kill and heavily injured her. Chris be fucked.

    • I read this from Anxious Black Woman and she totally is expressing what you’re feeling.

      • That was a great essay.

I wonder, also, to what extent this thinking exists in Latino communities, regardless of race. I’m thinking particularly about the tendency to view machismo as some sort of rich cultural tradition instead of a way of thinking and behaving that breeds violence and undermines women. My guess is that it might come, in part, from a decision or impetus to protect the group over the self.

It dont matter… if you think you can iever justify hitting a woman youre already wasting breath. Not to say some woman can beat the tar out of some guys… but theres just no excuse for it. I saw my dad hit my mom and it gives me loose bowles thinking of it. If theres anything that ever makes me want to string someone up, its some dumbassed punk that thinks theres an excuse fo what he did. Ill never support him or any artist that wants to be afiliated with him. I speak pretty loudly with my wallet. My vote is in.

I knew his people were behind all those rumors, which are not only baseless but highly misogynistic. Yes, women, are worthy of being beaten for “testing” you and whatnot. Black men were beaten and killed for having the wrong “attitude” just a couple generations ago.

That bastard Chris Brown deserves more than he’ll get. I hope Rihanna heals and gets her career back, but I doubt it. Poor kid.

What the heck is wrong with these celebrities. All of them think that they are above the law. Guest what, we as ordinary citizens put them in this position. Most of them come from the ghetto have never had anything and we know they are just gang busters with dollars. They get on TV shake their booties and then make speeches to say that they are devout christians. They shack up, sleep around, but all the time, they thank God for what they have. Please don’t thank God for Sin. They sing these nasty songs and degrade their female counterparts but they walk around like they are the best thing that ever happened to society. But we the people keep buying thier music, keep going to their movies, and we are just as much to blame. A star is an angel, I don’t see nothing in Hollywood are New York that shows this type of behavior as a star. Just because you have money don’t mean you have an intimate relationship with God. If their lives don’t change they will never see the Kingdom of Heaven. You can’t buy your way in, JayZ.

Did someone actually say “I’m sure he’s sorry”? and “he’s still a good person”? Whoever wrote that, must have been in a Chris Brown position themselves at some point. What would he hve to do to be a bad person? Actually kill her? Who is defending Chri Brown anyway? don’t like either of these peoples music…but seriously…who beats the shit out a a woman and is still “a good person”? Some say he was using self defence because she went nust and hit him first…ok…restrain her. She’s just a tiny girl, and he’s supposively a “Man” he could have easily held her back without harming her…Nothing worse than fucking fans, defending idiot celebs to the death…I don’t care who the hell you are. You do something wrong…you get punished. Done and done. Losers.

From what Rihanna said, she admitted to slapping and hitting him numerous times after she read the text. for one, to an extent i don’t blame chris for fighting back, because what gives her a pass to hit him all she wants, not get called an man beater and still gets away with hitting him yet chris is the one is blamed. even though she admitted to being the one to hitting him before this incident several times, even though she told people she was the one who instigated the fight, yet she’s the victim and chris is this supposed “monster”.

my opinion is boys and girls should not be putting their hands on eachother. but if you want to hit somebody then you better be ready because you just might get hit back.

think of it this way, there is only so much a woman can before she either goes off and trys to kill the man who is hurting her. just like with men, they can only take so much before they go off on you, they’re human too. especially if one keeps aggravating the other person. from what i heard chris was already mad as it is before this went down at the clive davis party, he really didn’t look like he wanted to be around rihanna in the first place. then she goes and reads his text, an she goes off and starts slapping him numerous times and hitting him in the head while he is driving. i don’t know about you all, but if that was my brother and a girl was hitting him while he was trying to operate a vehicle then i say be all means knock her out. she is endangering both their lives and i’d rather not lose my brother just because he didn’t want to hit a girl.

and i do think that at first he was just responding back and then i think all his anger and frustation came out and he ended up completley handing it to her. it’s almost like those kids in school who get teased and they end up coming to school with a gun because they can’t take it any more and they lose it.

people say, well why didn’t chris stop the car and get out? why didn’t he refrain himself? well let’s turn that around, why didn’t rihanna get out of the car after chris pulled over and pretty much gave her a chance to get out of the car? why didn’t she walk away? why didn’t she control herself over a text? from what they’re saying is the man is supposed to have more control over themselves and is the bigger person who should walk away. and us women are these over emtional weak willed who can’t control themselves whenever we’re mad and i find that offensive that society is pretty saying men are more in control then my gender.

I’m not saying he was right for what he did but there’s only so much a guy can take before he responds and its not fair rihanna gets a pass just because she’s a woman. they ignore the times she mention throwing a glass bottle at her brother’s head and leaving him scarred and she just laughs about it, they don’t mention how she has kicked chris’s fans out of VIP rooms, he was just giving them autographs and then she jsut comes in and tells them to get away from him an get out. she admits to slapping him before several times before this incident and she said chris never done anything back except that one time where she was going crazy and he restrained her and told her to calm down. i really hate these double standards they let rihanna skip free off in the sunset even after she’s done all this while chris was dragged through mud for 5 months and still is being beaten by the media and the people who only look on.

and rihanna is far being a little girl. she’s 5′8, he’s 6 ft. and from what i see rihanna isn’t missing any meals and chris looks scrawny. i don’t get why people say this is a little girl.
