Nom Nom: “Cooking With Clara’s” Clara Cannucciari Brings On Depression, Happily
27 February 2009, 12:21 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Clara Cannucciari is a 93-year-old great-abuelita who hosts her own online cooking show and food blog called “Depression Cooking with Clara.” And, strangely, none of her dishes include ramen or Cheez Whiz
Her dishes are pretty varied, including everything from “pasta with peas” (which, coincidentally, is exactly what he made last night) to egg drop soup. What we love most about Clara’s show, besides the fact that her recipes are obviously cheap and relatively easy to prepare, is the fact that she includes lots of personal anecdotes from her childhood while she cooks - like not going to school because she couldn’t afford to buy socks.
Check out this particular episode, where she makes a “Poorman’s Feast:”

I’m loving that Clara! ;o)
My abuelita has always cooked as though we’re in a depression. She never got out of that routine. I’m fairly certain she fed us fideo with sliced hot dogs a few times.
I’ve never contributed to any blog ever (though I read guanabee everyday) and have been having a “depression realization day” today…. I saw this, it made me smile, and I guess it’s not so bad. Thanks.
Glad this helped!
