Photo In Details Mag Turns Women Into Trash

Details magazine apparently thinks the best way to illustrate their recession article for men, charmingly titled “Can You Still Afford To Be A Player?,” is with a photo of a naked woman upside-down in a trashcan. Check out the full shocking photo:

It’s definitely eye-catching, but is this necessary? The article is about a bunch of bankers complaining how they can no longer afford to impress and woo gold-digging models - which is very tragic, really, we’re choking back tears here - but then that implies that the oft-mentioned “Estonian models” are the ones doing the ditching, not the men. So why the picture of the chick in the trash? Does “being a player” mean you own your dates’ body - and since when are people disposable (ignoring that one time we kissed someone to win a corndog in a dare)?
We get it, men love to imagine the quintessential alpha male as a man who can “bag” an endless number of women in quick succession with no regard for what the women want. But do we really need the discarded mannequin/rape victim image, too?
The weird part is that the actual article isn’t even that nasty. One banker explains his prior dating strategy; “Look, it’s no secret that we finance guys aren’t the most exciting people in the world. We’re a bunch of guys set on the money—that’s our whole appeal” and then goes on to lament his odds of attracting a girl now that he’s no longer rolling in dough. His is a pretty normal view of dating-shallow, sure, but at least there’s no mention of stuffing women in garbage bins. So how did the point go from “bankers can no longer afford to impress gold-diggers” to “bimbos lacking a sugar daddy are trash to be thrown out” ? Cause, you know, we thought they just went back to holding suitcases on game shows.

The picture is one of a pair of legs sticking out of a trash can, with a large purse hanging outside of the can. The woman may be naked, but you can’t tell from this picture. The fact that you say she’s naked makes me think your being a bit overl sensitve.
Besides its no different that you displaying
Dude, it’s a dismembered female body. The whole point is that it dehumanizes women (and by extension, girls). And yeah, throwing her in the trash equates women and girls with rubbish, which is demonizing (i.e. it’s what we tell ourselves when we want to justify treating groups of people like shit).
The fact it’s done so casually is just a sign of how messed up our culture is with regards to anti-female intolerance and hate.
Whew.
Que Eso the Oscar the Grouch trash can. Or perhaps the model has a very short torso.
I always wait till at least the 3rd date before I go dumpster diving with my girl.
