Slumdog Millionaire Star Freida Pinto Had A “Secret Husband”

Freida Pinto, the lovely star of Slumdog Millionaire, is pretty different from her Hollywood counterparts in that she rarely discusses her private life. However, it has recently been revealed that the actress had a secret marriage - and a secret divorce.

In Bollywood, actress are apparently more likely to get work if they give the impression of remaining single. So the 24-year-old (who looks like she could be Rosario Dawson’s baby sister, no?) did just that, never mentioning that she married Rohan Antao in Goa in December of 2007. The couple, however, split last month, with Pinto citing pressures of her newfound fame as a reason. Her Slumdog Millionaire co-star, Dev Patel, has called Pinto his “soulmate” while denying the two are linked romantically. Mmm hmm.

Pinto reportedly handled her divorce less than gracefully. Her ex says she stopped calling him around the Golden Globes awards, right when her career really started to take off on an international level. The sad irony is that Antao, a marketing executive, had a role in helping his young wife rise to fame. He developed the former model’s website and handled her publicity.

Her manager, however, is not super pleased with the news, saying: “We do not want to comment on this matter. However, if she is married then whoever is claiming it should produce a marriage certificate.”
