Japan’s Drunken Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa Loses Job

Japan’s Minister of Finance Shoichi Nakagawa looked drunk at a G8 news conference in Rome last week. Now he’s here on video slurring his words and falling asleep just for you. Because the internet is one big embarrassing friend who never forgets. Nakagawa, who denied being drunk and blamed cold medicine for his behavior, caved to immense pressure from the opposing party this morning by handing in his resignation to the Prime Minister who promptly accepted and replaced him with Economic Minister Kaoru Yosano.
“I apologise for causing such a big fuss,” heĀ told the press. “I visited hospital last night and this morning and was diagnosed to have a bad lower back, cold and fatigue.” “Looking after one’s own health condition is part of the responsibility of a politician,” said health minister Yoichi Masuzoe who is kind of cold hearted, if you ask us. Here’s hoping there’s no ensuing suicide.

Although being drunk on the job isn’t the wisest move to combat stress, can you imagine how tremendously stressful being the finance minister of Japan is? Especially seeing as how their market has seen a 30% decline since last year. He should’ve been more discreet, like the rest of us, and huffed permanent markers at his desk.
*I in no way condone huffing markers*
