Lee Redmond’s World Record Holding Fingernails Broken In Car Crash

Lee Redmond of Salt Lake City once held the Guinness World Record for longest fingernails. Alas, her claim to fame were broken after a serious but non-fatal car accident. Lucky for Lee, there are press-on nails with her on ‘em.
Lee had not cut her nails since 1979, resulting in about 28 combined feet of long, thick, yellowy-brown dead cells hanging off the tips of her fingers.
Lee was ejected from her vehicle during the crash and immediately taken to the hospital.
She was once supposed to cut her famous nails live on Guinness TV back in 2006, but opted out at the last minute. She apparently drove (which was really wildly dangerous and selfish, when you think about it), cooked, cleaned dishes and cared for Alzheimer’s stricken husband without interference. Now, finally, she’ll be able to add “wiping” to that list. See? There’s always a silver lining. Sometimes it’s just caught in your hideous, curling fingernails.

so sad for her… but seriously, how did she wipe??
She had a bidet.
I shudder to think at the flakes and nuggets.
When I wore acrylics in high school, I would bunch the toilet paper into a sort of rose shape, hold it by the stem with my fingertips, and make sure my nails were tucked under the paper “bloom” before wiping.
But with several FEET of nailage, I’m not sure if that could be done.
That’s a nice story.
Consider it a public service announcement.
I have to exchange money with and touch surfaces also touched by people with long nails. I want to make sure they know how to handle their business.

she took care of hubby too. i can’t picture how she wiped either of them, don’t want to, and what is the perpose of them???
