M.I.A. Almost Gives Birth At Grammys, Has Some Strong Opinions On Slumdog Millionaire

m.i.a.M.I.A. performed at the Grammy’s last night, on the very night she was due to give birth to her first child. That certainly could have ended… messily. M.I.A. was able to keep from queefing out a baby long enough to give a performance and to share her thoughts on Slumdog Millionaire.

Should she have not been able to make it through the night, though, Kanye West offered to help deliver. Knowing him, he probably would have then claimed to have invented babies. (Hm. Is Kanye Cuban?)

M.I.A. admitted to not knowing exactly what a contraction was so supposed to feel like, this being her first pregnancy and all. She did, however, say it felt like her baby was “getting its swagger on.” Aw. Our baby is totally going to sit at the edge of womb, texting no one so it looks like he’s busy.

And, it turns out, M.I.A. has a bit in common with certain Guanabee commenters! The mom-to-be advised Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle to lose the Bollywood dance scene that occurs at the end of the film. She says:

I told him, ‘Don’t make it too Bollywood. Don’t give in.’ I like all the gritty stuff in the beginning, ’cause that’s kind of what I identify with, ’cause I lived in India. For me, it was more identifiable.

  1. In a million years, I would have never guessed M.I.A. and I had anything in common… other than knowing when babies get their swagga on.

  2. I want to be MIA’s baby. Do you think she’d adopt me and dress me up in hipster sunglasses?
