ed_doud_oprahWe’ve heard from Nadya Suleman’s mother, Angela, who has been open about not supporting her daughter’s lifestyle decisions. Now, thanks to Oprah, we have the chance to hear from Nadya’s father, Ed Doud.

On an episode of “The Oprah Show” set to air this coming Tuesday, Ed says that while he’s “no psychiatrist,” he has to question his daughter’s mental state. He also asked the public to go easy on his daughter and her thousands of womb trolls: “You know what? She needs help. I say to everybody now — people — we do need help. Do not punish my daughter for what she had done and do not punish the babies, because they were given by God.”

Regardless of whether or not people believe these babies were kicked down to earth by Papa Dios, she still decided to have those babies through IVF. So it ain’t as if God tickled her ovaries Himself and her womb was suddenly spilling over with tiny people, Pops.

This is particularly interesting given the only other statement Ed has given to the press was: “We have a huge house, not here. You are never going to know where it is.” If you are so intent on having the press leave your ass alone, why are you going on Oprah and talking about your baby business?

Maybe it’s because Ed hopes viewers will feel swayed into donating money to help Nadya pay for the children she can’t afford to raise. A nonprofit called “Angels in Waiting” has offered Nadya 24 hour childcare and a new place to stay with her 14 children. (Does it look something like this? Because if it doesn’t come with a hot tub, we’re not sure Nadya even wants it.) The cost of these services would reach something in the vicinity of $135,000 a month.

And how does the agency expect to pay for all this? That’s right: You guys.
