Octomom Nadya Suleman (And Her 30 Million Kids) Grace The Pages Of Us Weekly
19 February 2009, 2:06 PM. By Alex Alvarez
Us Weekly took a look into the strange and wondrous life of Nadya Suleman, the so-called “Octomom” who produced 14 children - including octuplets - through in-vitro fertilization. Their cover story, predictably, reveals a woman with many, many problems. But with full, sensuous lips. Priorities, right?
Nadya, who was once married to a man named Marco Gutierrez, was unable to become intimate with her husband, perhaps owing to a bout with depression she suffered after incurring a spinal injury during her job as a psychiatric technician. A nosy neighbor claims to have never seen Nadya entertain any male visitors in her California home, where she lives with her divorced parents. Upon asking her whether she was a virgin, Nadya informed the neighbor that no, she was not. Right after smacking Mr. Rogers with a newspaper, we hope. Nosy-ass!
On the topic of plastic surgery, legal documents show that a then-teenaged Nadya had breast implants done in 1993. Neighbors, and a Us Weekly-interviewed plastic surgeon who does not treat Nadya, think the surgical procedures don’t end there. The doctor believes she may have also had work done on her cheeks, lips and nose. We’re going to co-sign that assessment, because women don’t normally turn into trouts upon reaching a certain age. Nadya, however, denies that she’d had surgery on her face and, in light of recent speculation that she is molding herself to look like fellow famous baby-haver Angelina Jolie, says she “doesn’t waste time” thinking celebrities. Just BABIEEEEES.
The interview also reveals that her mother Angela, despite being outspokenly against her daughter’s choices and selling her story to the National Enquirer, has an “on and off” relationship with Nadya and still provides and cares for all her grandchildren. Her entire retirement check goes to the upkeep of her various bajillion grandbabies.
But Nadya herself isn’t exactly pressed for money. She garnered around $227,000 for speaking with The Sun and The Daily Mail. In fact, the noticeable lack of direct quotes from Nadya in the Us Weekly article is a result of her being unable to undermine the other tabs’ “exclusive” scoops on her story.
The article goes on to reveal that the fallout from Nadya’s newfound celebrity includes constant surveillance, death threats sent via her website, the loss of a publicist and a public statement issued by her church in an attempt to clear up her claim that they were helping support her financially. All the attention focused on Nadya has also drawn the gaze of Child Protective Services who, among various other things, were dismayed by the state of her home. The entire Suleman family - all 17 members - live in a 3-bedroom, one-bath bungalow that has been described as a “pigsty,” with food, toys and mattresses strewn everywhere.
Neighbors - and internet commenters - speculate that Nadya simply does not understand how hard it will be to properly care for 14 children. We’re pretty sure her symbiotic relationship with the media will keep us all posted, though.
