Oscar Fashions: Best, Worst And Mickey Rourke

Marisa_TomeiWell, the Oscars were last night! Perhaps you may have heard about this? The awards show’s red carpet saw its fair share of totally righteous and totally heinous fashions - and then there was Mickey Rourke. Seriously, even looking like a meth addict going to a Vegas wedding, this man can do no wrong.

Let’s discuss some of the best and… not-so-best… looks of the night:

There were a lot of Oscar looks that we suspect will prove popular, but that we personally weren’t feeling. Natalie Portman’s bubble-gum pink Rodarte was pretty, but the color - and her tan - looked very Malibu Barbie, and we suspect we’ve seen Paris Hilton run this style into the ground at least 72 times.

Beyonce went all “Recessionista” by dressing up in Walter Mercado’s old couch, and Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto decided to borrow something from the Liza Minnelli Cruise Ship Performer Collection.

We did love French actress Marion Cotillard’s dramatic tulle number and Penelope Cruz’s sparkling vintage dress was elegant beyond belief. Our two favorite looks of the night both happened to be pleated - Taraji Henson’s Roberto Cavalli (a designer whose fashions we usually loathe) fit her perfectly. Marisa Tomei’s dove gray Versace (another design house that usually leaves us cold) dress surprised us pleasantly by being both daring and, for once, utterly lovely.

Which looks did you like? Who should have stayed home? And why was Jessica Biel at the Oscars in the first place, much less dressed like a throw pillow? So many questions, kittens.

Upon reviewal of the Oscar pics, these are some quick thoughts on the fashions, my apologies if they aren’t in order:
    1. Beyonce - Dress was a retarded gold nightmare.
2.Meryl Streep - Dress looked like a flat sheet. Boring.
3.Kate Winslet - Dress looked half finished.
4.Tilda Swinton - Outfit was lifeless and bland.
    5. Jessica Biel - No one cares. Moving on.
    6. Marion Cotillard - Nice try.
    7. Melissa George - Glorified corset.
    8. Marissa Tomei - Nice dress, nothing spectacular, but pretty.
    9. Tarajo Hus…- S’good.
    10. Vanessa Hudgens - WTF are you doing here? Move aside and let the real stars come through. Go on now,go.
11 Anne Hathaway - Nice dress but all the pics I’ve seen of it seem to indicate that her boobs didn’t quite fill the front of it.
12 Sarah Jessica Parker - Looked like she was headed to her quince.
    13. Natalie Portman - No.
    14. Penelope Cruz - Boring dress. Sorry, but it was.
    15. Miley Cyruse - The dress looks like the tacky white Xmas tree my abuelita refuses to throw away.
    16. Reese Witherspoon - The dress wasn’t terrible.
17 Freida Pinto - Interesting dress.
    18. Angelina & Brad - Shut up, you both look good and I’m tired of lookin’ at ya. Go go go.
    19. Sean Penn - Looks like an assface in whatever he wears.
    20. Mickey Rourke - Wasn’t even trying.

Until next you soul-less, empty, rich sacks of “talent”!

I agree with you, but Vanessa’s dress was pretty good.

LOL at the Walter Mercado’s couch reference and calling Sean Penn an assface.

  3. I’m trying to find a pic of Jessica Biel that shows her shoes. Someone told me it appeared as though she was wearing boots with that dress!? Did anyone happen to catch that?

      Hey Latin Princess!
Yes, I happened to catch that. My freinds were actually down at the Oscars, and she got a video of the whole thing!!! The boots looked like cowboy ones, and she walked all clanky in them. You should’ve seen it, you would’ve ROTFL!!!!

      • I can’t wait to watch those trashy fashion shows on E! and the Style Network. I know they got a close up of those tacky boots!

Micky Rourke was by far the best dressed man at the oscars. He took a chance and it paid off- he is the only person without the same old suit. How could you say he wasn’t trying when he was wearing Gautier? [fredo]

Ahh but if you notice his pants are ill-fitting and his jacket sleeves are too long! I’m sure he knew what he was wearing before the big event and even if he didn’t he could’ve gotten them tailored that afternoon. That and he didn’t even wash his hair.
I stand by my comment that he wasn’t even trying. :)

Yeah, some of the OSCARS fashions were nice…But not all. I mean Miley’s…Her’s sucked!!! And I’m sooooooo proud “Slumdog Millionaire” made it to the OSCARS. It’s probobly the best movie I’v ever seen.

Yes, i can agree that a tailoring job wouldn’t have hurt. I think that Mickey Rourke definitely knew what he looked like but its his style to show up sweating, in an ill-fitting suit. He is the peek of macho men and he pulls off that style beautifully
