Rapist Hired Twice At Same Clinic, Management Struggles To Explain

Gariner Beasley was fired from his job at an East L.A. health clinic after his employers learned that he was a convicted rapist and former LAPD officer who had committed his crimes by abusing the authority of his position, no less. Then they re-hired him.
Beasley worked as an X-ray technician at the health clinic and despite his spotless track record at the clinic, his employers realized that “his criminal record [was] incompatible with a job that required he work alone with patients in ‘very vulnerable and compromised positions.’ ” So they fired him in August of 2008, only to find a few months later that he’d been re-hired to the clinic. He was fired again immediately upon the discovery but the incident left many questioning the abilities of the Board of Supervisors. County Supervisor Gloria Molina commented; “There will be some heads rolling on this one. This is totally shocking. It really shocks all of your sensibilities because we are supposed to be serving and protecting the patients of Los Angeles County.”
While the Board of Supervisors overseeing the clinic did not have an immediate explanation for why Beasley was re-hired, they said that he was brought in for the second time by an outside contractor, and that somewhere along the way, someone must have forgotten to check his criminal record. They also said they blame the outside contractor, the county officials who neglected to check his record and any security officials who gave him an ID badge for the clinic. Because apparently Supervisors (literally, “one who watches over”) aren’t responsible for anything that happens on their watch.

Nice. Now everybody is just looking around with a dumb ass look on their faces and pointing fingers. Why don’t they just blame the patients for being so trusting too?
