Rags Claim Rihanna Was Pregnant When Chris Brown Beat Her

Star magazine and The National Enquirer are claiming that Rihanna was pregnant with Chris Brown’s child when he beat her up the night of the Grammy’s two weeks ago. They’re also claiming her alleged pregnancy is one of the reasons he went on such a rampage. “Oh my God, I could lose the baby!” they say she told friends moments after Brown battered her. “If Rihanna is pregnant, Chris could have killed the baby,” they quote a distressed insider as saying.

Rumors that the R&B singer was carrying a child began swarming after she collapsed at a November concert in Australia and were apparently confirmed by experts who claimed that Rihanna was surely pregnant since she was wearing looser clothes. If she really was expecting, (which we’re as skeptical about as the rumors that she gave Brown herpes), Star claims Rihanna was afraid to tell Brown because she was sure he didn’t want to have a baby. (A picture of a battered Rihanna was leaked days after it happened.) Star lays out an interesting account from a source they claim witnessed a visit Rihanna made to the ob-gyn:

Star has learned that on Jan. 26 Rihanna had a schedulded appointment at the office of Dr. Gregory Ewertz in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. “She came with a female assistant and a guy friend for a once o’ clock appointment,” says an eyewitness. “She was extremely fidgety during the 10 minutes she had to sit still until she was called in to see the doctor alone.” After 40 tense minutes, [Ed: Were they in the examining room with her?] Rihanna came back out to the waiting room, continues the eyewitness. “She avoided everyone’s gaze as she left and seemed totally uncomfortable.”

We can only imagine we’d be uncomfortable, too, if we had to go see the doc for something as private as having our vadge checked while everybody was gazing at us in the waiting room. (Not that the author of this article would know. But I assume it’s not that different from going to get your prostate checked.)

Since news of the beating first came out, it has been disclosed that Rihanna was very possessive of Brown and that he felt trapped by her constant neediness and demands. And despite her fears that Brown did not want a child, Rihanna believed that a baby would bind them together. Rihanna has been recovering since the incident and spent three days at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach California. Three days later she spent her 21st birthday at a rented private villa in Los Angeles where the theme of the party was casino night. According to the New York Daily News, Brown sent her a diamond bracelet, a necklace and an iPod touch, pleading for forgiveness. Classy.
