salma_hayek_breastfeedingSalma Hayek recently paid a visit to Sierra Leone, where she came upon a mother who was unable to feed her infant. Without so much as a moment’s thought, Salmita, who is weaning her daughter - Valentina - off breastfeeding, whipped out a teta and offered the baby her own milk.

We’re assuming (hoping) the baby’s mom ok’d the situation before a Strange Lady followed by TV cameras came into her home. Interestingly enough, the one-week old baby happens to share something else with Salma’s daughter - the two have the same birthday.

Salma’s decision, it so happens, is something of a family tradition. Back in Mexico, her own great-grandmother once offered her own breast milk when she happened upon an inconsolable young mother who was distraught at not being able to breastfeed her child.

Check out the video:

Salma’s ongoing commitment to children - and their mothers - is part of why she has become a UNICEF spokesperson, traveling the globe in order to spread awareness of the Pampers Tetanus program. One simple vaccination, advocates the program, which could quite possibly bring down Sierra Leone’s infant mortality rate.

  1. Salma, just elevated herself over Angelina…your move Mrs Pitt…your move.

  2. If this baby is a (straight) male, in like 12 years when he finds out he was sucking on Salma’s teta, he’s going to have his first official spontaneous emission.
